ESOS Assessment Phase 2

Published by [email protected] on

It’s time to turn your attention to the ESOS Phase 2 deadline, giving yourself plenty of time to become compliant and avoid hefty fines.

Phase 2

The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) will continue creating phased deadlines for the next four years. Phase 2 has begun now, meaning all eligible organisations must work to become energy compliant by 2019.

You can become energy complaint through a series of audits. These audits look to reduce your energy consumption. A list of eligible products has been published called the Energy Technology List. Our LED Lighting systems qualify.

LED lighting has been shown to reduce 50-80% of lighting energy costs. They have little to no maintenance requirements for many years. LED lights have a typically longer life than regular fluorescent bulbs and can withstand harsher climates. Adding on a sensor-regulated system allows the lights to be bespoke controlled. Lights can be placed in most regular and challenging environments. Typically, all warehouses, sheds, offices and outdoor applications would benefit from LED lighting. Installation of EGG lighting LEDs and sensor systems have a quick turnaround, expert know-how and trusted after sales care.

Environment Agency

The Environment Agency suggests that early energy audits are the best way to secure your organisation against the fines. Failure to comply with ESOS could mean fines of up to £50,000. Then there could be charges of £500 per day for up to 80 days. Auditing early also means that your organisation will see benefits in cost reduction way before the deadline date.

Why bother now as it’s only 2017? It can take time and money to become energy complaint and so it makes sense to spread the cost and lift the weight off your shoulders. Your organisation may also be eligible for the Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme. This is a tax relief on Energy Technology List solutions. If you put in an order for LED lighting before the end of this tax year, you might benefit from these savings.

Some organisations think of the ESOS compliance as a costly nuisance however it is a great initiative to get energy savings rolling. The outcome of the audits and assessments mean that organisations have a motivation to strategise money-saving solutions, beneficial for many years to come. As well as providing lights and sensors, EGG Lighting also offers measurement and verification systems. Have the power to check exactly what water and energy is being used – from a single tap to a power pump.
