In Spring 2015 TreeGreen, in cooperation with Morris & Spottiswood and Murray Russell Architects, designed the car park lighting at a social housing complex in Reidhouse Street, Glasgow.
- Light type: 80W LED Street Light
- Application area: Car Park
NG Homes announced in early 2015 that they were to undertake a range of car park development and redevelopment works over the course of the next four years. The first of these projects was at Reidhouse Street, and involved the development of a new car park and lighting scheme.
EGG Lighting worked with the lead consultants Atelier Ten and Murray Russell Architects throughout the project. After various site surveys we completed a lighting design in accordance with Glasgow City Council’s Planning Decision Notice. We concluded that our 80W LED Street lamp with a beam angle of 80° x 150° would be an efficient car park lighting solution that would limit the effects of light pollution on the environment and the surrounding housing developments.
As this was a new-build project with no existing lighting controls, we recommended that the luminaire was supplied with an integrated photocell. We also recommended that a colour temperature of 5000K was used to provide high colour rendering and a bright environment for users of the car park. Both of these recommendations were accepted and the luminaires were installed in June 2015.
Energy efficient technologies and measures are as important as ever in order to tackle climate change, reduce carbon emissions, and alleviate fuel poverty. Lighting forms a big part of our annual energy consumption and it was clear this had to be addressed if we were to reduce our impact on the environment and to save money for our tenants. The LED lighting technologies provided by EGG Lighting have been superb, and we are particularly delighted with the new lighting at our Reidhouse Street car park.
Local tenants and users of the car park have commented on how much brighter the environment feels and have also reported increased sense of security. We worked with EGG Lighting from planning through to design and install for this project, and the results speak for themselves. In short – superb!
